When browsing wedding sites and Pinterest pages endlessly, the decision between choosing bright colors and a muted color palette only becomes harder and harder. I'm here to make it even harder. Just kidding - I hope to help you visualize what you truly want, however I'm still unable to choose my personal favorite!
Growing up I thought about what my PERFECT (because there's no other option) wedding would look like. I *thought* I knew what I wanted, but as I got older I realized how fleeting fashion trends (and grade school preferences) can be. The 'Dream Dress' I had designed in my notebook during recess in 3rd grade was bright orange with yellow tulle underneath. Obviously beautiful. The next year in school my wedding colors were definitely going to be bubblegum-pink AND basketball-orange. In high school I was sure I would wear a white puffy ballgown that reached the floor and hid my black Chucks (Converse). What did your dream wedding attire look like? Have you always had the same vision? A classic white ball gown? A cultural garment with a dark veil? Classy pantsuit? Maybe you never gave it an honest thought until now, and now find yourself frantically planning one of the biggest days of your life.
While one's style continually changes, the bottom line is that it is YOUR day. It is your decision, and yours alone (okay okay, your partner can help if they insist.). Different colors evoke different feelings for everybody; Your palette should be happy and exciting for you AND your fiancé. For some people, vivid colors lift their mood and lend to the "fun" environment. For others, very light and airy color palettes lend to the calm feelings they want to emphasize on their day.
Things like tradition, religion, culture, and location play roles in choosing a color palette. When choosing your colors, be sure to discuss with your partner what their vision includes and if they have a tradition or religious belief of which they'd like to honor. Below I'll show you some of my favorite examples of different types of wedding color pallets. These are all from weddings Tolman Media locations have had the opportunity to be part of!
